It was a fruitful day for the children as well as the teachers. While on our way back home, the children were already feeling so tired. Some even slept during the bus ride back to school!

Racial Harmony Day Celebration 21 July 2009

1, 2, 3, WAHHHH!

For our celebration, the Nursery class merged together with K2 class and had fun together. Many of them put on their ethnic costumes and looked very adorable! Before we start, let's welcome our models!

To make this joyous occasion even more memorable, we have our children from Myanmar showcasing their very own traditional costumes. It was an eye opener for some of us as we have not seen how traditional costumes from Myanmar look like.

First up in our list of programmes, we had circle time with the children and sang songs together. We sang "The More We Get Together" in English, Malay and Chinese versions.

After singing, it was time to go to our respective stations!
We had 3 different stations where children were given opportunities to learn about the culture of the 3 common races in Singapore - the Chinese, Malays and Indians.

Children learnt about henna, helped out to make glutinous rice balls and had a go in making "bunga manggar".

Now, after the henna was done, "Look at my hand!" yelled everyone.

Miss Hong was the station master for our 'glutinous rice balls' stall!

At the 3rd station, Teacher Mairah taught the children how to make the "bunga manggar".

After patronizing all 3 stations, it was free and easy time for them! Most of them were eating the Indian snack called Murukku while some played with their own "bunga manggar" which they had created themselves.



Everyone had a great time, even the teachers :)
