Zooooo Mooooo!!!!

Yes. Time sure flies very fast. And it's the month of August!
Back on 18 August 2010, our Nursery children had
a great time at the zoo!

Let's take a peek to find out what they have done at the zoo. Stay tuned for videos which will be uploaded real soon! :)

On our way to Mandai Zoo, in the bus...

Here was Ka Woon!

Xin Yi and Syarmayne :)

Qiu Ling and Yushan :)

Harini and Nadia :)

Hazel and Shahirah :)

Fynn and Jia Ying :)

Chek Ee and Cedric :)

Jia Xuan and Yoke Xuen :)

Allen and Zhi Cheng :)

Hong Ze and Jeremy :)

Ashraff and Joshua :)

Ridzuan and Rui Xiang :)

Jun Yin and Bevin :)

Li Xin :)

Look at all their face expressions and poses!
They sure looked very excited right?

Finally! We have reached! :)

"Oh! So smelly!" This was what some of them were saying the moment we got further in to the zoo. But after awhile, they got used to it.

As they walked, they shouted "Zebra! Zebra! There!"

"Woah! The giraffe has long neck!"

All the children suddenly became very quiet as they saw a big snake through the glass panel.

Next up, a giant tortoise! Some of them mentioned "Terrapin!"

Cute right? They said "terrapin" as they had terrapins in their classroom which they kept as pets.

The children had fun watching the sealion show!

They were so attentive as they watched how the sealion, Philip, performed stunts with the ball.

After watching the sealion, it was time to watch the elephants at work and play!

They watched how the elephants carry and push logs, and how they eat, sleep and play together.
Now, what was next?

Jun Yin and Jia Ying were looking at the map, and they were very focused.

Shahirah was asking, "Where are we now? Here ah?"

Time to rest, have lunch and do some work!
After they had their lunch, they had time to do some work.

As they recalled the animals they had observed at the zoo so far, they had to colour the animals and continued with another activity back in school as an extension for this field trip. The children really had good memory!

Yoke Xuen, concentrating on her work :)

Joshua was focused too :)

After about half an hour, time to visit the Kampong House!
The children were tiptoe-ing as they entered the house.
They were so quiet and they kept staring at all the gigantic pests in the house.
Some of them even felt a little afraid, so we had to reassure them that the pests were not real.

"Teacher Mairah! Lizard eh! Lizard!"

Then, they observed real crickets in the drawers.

And they were so afraid to come near to the bed as they were saying that the bed bugs were huge!

After a tour at the Kampong House, some of them commented that the zoo's Kampong House had no red and black ants. unlike the kampong house in our Nursery classroom. Wow! They sure were observant! They were then told to recall which pests are able to fly and which are the ones that crawl.

Rabbits! They were really excited as they looked at these rabbits!

Then, they watched the billy goats and attempted to touch them.

Back in school, they had to create animals that they have observed at the zoo using plasticine! What do you think they have made?

Nadia made a crocodile!

Hazel created a green snake ...

Shahirah was still in the process of making something ... hmm ...

What do you think they might have created? :)

They also had a chance to play a game about animals at the zoo using the computer.

What else were they doing in the classroom as an extension activity to their field trip to the zoo?

This was Bevin, using the magnifying glass to observe the dead fish.
"So smelly!!" said Bevin as he pinched his nose.

Now, he took a look at the live fish.

Here they are! At the Science Corner! :)

As an extension to what they have learnt at the zoo's Kampong House, the children role played being the family who lived in the kampong house at our centre.

They took care of the cat, showered and groomed the cat.

They also played the "congkak", grouping the marbles in pairs and threes.

Harini, Joshua and Hong Ze were busy feeding the cat.
"What other food can we give to our cat?"

Here, Harini was dividing the pests into 2 groups: pests that fly, and pests that crawl.

Rui Xiang was talking to Hong Ze, telling him that the black ants were hungry!

"Harini! I want to bring my dog go walking," said Rui Xiang.

It was really good to see the children having fun as they learn. We hope you had fun looking at the pictures! :)
