Welcome to Nursery Blog for the month of September!
During this month, our Nursery children learnt about "changes".
Changes in temperature, changes in state from liquid to solid, and changes in colours and also texture. But how exactly did they learn about these? Let's take a look! :)
Baking Brown Sugar Cookies!
In this lesson, children tried making their own brown sugar cookies. After looking at how their teacher did it, they had a go at it themselves. They looked at the pictures and the steps on how to go about doing it. And they really did it! :)
First step, have a bowl and a spoon. Add in two spoonfuls of brown sugar and two spoonfuls of butter. Mix them really well.
Here, Bevin and Rui Xiang were mixing the sugar and butter. Shahirah was waiting patiently for her turn.
Next in the queue, Ka Woon! :D
Jia Ying was waiting for her turn patiently too. :)
Next in the queue, Ashraff and Jun Yin! :)
After adding and mixing all the ingredients together, they tried to make dough out of it.
Then, they used the shape cutters to make nicely-shaped cookies! :)
You have seen the Banana group trying to make their very own cookie dough.
Now, it was time for the Papaya group to try!
Nadia and Jia Xuan were busy concentrating on moulding shapes for their brown sugar cookie dough.
Look at how busy Cedric, Jeremy, Yu Shan and Amelia were! Jeremy seemed very happy right? :)
The next lesson where they learnt about changes in state and colour, was through this lesson called Goop Play!
Children get to mix corn flour with water and observe the change that occurred. They also get to add food colouring onto the corn starch and observe the changes in colour.
Hong Ze and Yoke Xuen were busy experimenting with the goop. Yoke Xuen especially, seemed mesmerized by the changes that took place!
Joshua added more blue food colouring into the corn starch. Hong Ze seemed very curious. :)
"Eew! So sticky!"
Nadia and Syarmayne enjoyed playing with the goop! They could not stop giggling!
Yoke Xuen said, "Look at my hands..."
Song/Rhyme:
Twinkle, twinkle triangle (to the tune of Twinkle, twinkle Little Star)
Twinkle, twinkle triangle
There are three sides, three angles.
Turn it up and turn it down, like a sandwich
Yum, yum, yum!
Twinkle, twinkle triangle,
There are three sides, three angles.
