What's for this month?

In this month, I will share with you on what the children had learnt in term 2 and some of the activities that they had conducted in the classroom.
Firstly, the children learnt about “My senses” which focuses on ‘I can see’ and ‘I can hear’. They were taught on identifying the eye anatomy and terms used were ‘eyebrow’, ‘eyelashes’, ‘eyelid’ and ‘pupil’.  They were also taught of a technique in which they could remember the terms of the eye anatomy. Why don’t you ask your child to demonstrate it to you? Your child will definitely be excited to teach you the technique. They also learnt about the importance of taking care of their eyes.
In the lesson red fruit party, they were introduced to different types of red fruits. They discussed about the similarities and differences of the external appearance of the fruits.  Children were told to bring one red fruit from the examples stated in the take home activity sheet for this lesson. At the end of this lesson, they also got to learn the different shades of red.
Let me show you the pictures of the children during the lesson being conducted!

Punith smelled the strawberry when it was passed around.
 He said,” Smell nice!”

Leora was busy touching the skin of the plum.

After all the fruits that the children had touched
and talked about it, it is time for the children to eat the fruits!
Look at how happy when they got to eat the fruits!

Besides learning about mixing colours and sounds, the children had fun learning about straight and curve lines.  They got to explore walking and running straight and curve lines when they went for an outdoor.
Children applied the concept of straight and curve lines through various activities such as ‘marble painting’ and ‘curved line collage’.
Now, I’m going to show you the activity on ‘Marble painting’. Let’s take a look!

Hong Zheng and Audrey had their attention to the marble. They were moving the tray from right to left.

Leia was seen scooping a blue paint and
she was determined to make a good job on her master piece.

Look at the work! You can see the three different primary colours on Eugin's masterpiece.

This is Chek Wan who was concentrating
in making the different lines on his master piece.
He carefully moved the marble in the tray to create many lines.

Kerrine Ow was seen trying to make as many lines as
possible on her master piece. Good job!

Stay tuned for the next blog to find out what they have learnt on the theme “Animals” and also the children will definitely be excited and looking forward to the field trip that will be organized by the school. Do not miss the fun! J
