Straight Lines and Curve Lines

During this whole month, besides learning about mixing colours and sounds, our Nursery had fun learning about straight and curve lines.

Children gained concrete experiences by walking along a straight line. They enjoyed this activity as they carefully walked along the straight line, imagining that they were crossing a bridge above a river full of crocodiles.

Harini kept smiling as she walked.

Chek Ee, very slow and steady, crossed the "river".

Rui Xiang could not wait to get over to the other side quickly!

Everyone was cheering for Hazel as she crossed the "river".

Ridzuan was a little scared to cross the "river" but gained confidence after his peers cheered him on.

Now that they have attempted to walk along straight lines, next was to let them have fun creating straight lines using marble printing! Let's have a look!

Ka Woon had all her attention to the marble.

Zhi Cheng was choosing a colour for his straight line.

Syarmayne was determined to make a good job out of this.

Look at Allen's straight line art! Isn't it beautiful?

Yoke Xuen tried her best, moving the basket up and down, to roll the marble to create her straight lines.

Xin Yi created red and orange straight lines!

Jun Yin's straight seemed neat and tidy, don't you think so?

Shahirah kept murmuring to herself as she did her work, "Straight line, straight line.."

Li Xin chose to create purple straight lines as he likes the colour.

Qiu Ling was placing the marble on her drawing paper before she rolled it to create straight lines.

Now that they have learnt about straight lines, children moved on to learn about curve lines. They knew how to identify curve lines and could tell the difference between straight and curve lines. They also were able to tell that ears, eyebrows, eyelids are all in the shape of curve lines and not straight.

Here was Ka Woon, walking along the curve line.

Ashraff was so excited that he ran along the curve line instead! :D

Bevin kept smiling all the way as he walked slowly along the curve line.

Now, time for some 3D Curve Line Art!
Children were given strips of either coloured paper or magazine and they had to fold them to create 3D curve lines!

Ka Woon enjoyed folding the papers to create curve lines!

Fynn was busy applying glue to her strips of magazine.
