"I love you,
You love me,
We are a happy family.
With a great big hug,
and a kiss from me to you.
Won't you say you love me too?"

Sounds familiar? Definitely. After learning more about themselves for the content focus on "Me, Myself", our Nursery children also learnt more about their family. They shared with their peers about their own experiences at home with their family and learnt that they should all love one another.

In one of the many lessons on "My Family", children shared about what they do at home to help their parents. And they did a role play!

In the above pictures, Hazel was pretending to be the mother of the family and she was cleaning the "table top" with a cloth.

Both Ashraff and Varinda wanted to be the brothers. They both helped to sweep and
mop the floor respectively.

Yicheng was the father of the family. He was happily folding the cloth.

The rest of the children were the audience of this role play. Yushan and Jun Yin were so interested in the play that they even went into the scene together with the actors! :)

Following the role play, the children had a chance to play with finger puppets!
They recited the rhyme "My Family" while wriggling the correct finger at the same time.

Varinda happily posing at the camera with his finger puppets.

Shahirah, Ashraff and Jiaying were playing with the finger puppets together.

Xin Yi was helping Jun Yin to put on the finger puppet to the correct finger.

Now, it was Xin Yi's turn to wear the finger puppets!

Li Xin was calling out to the teacher to take a picture of himself with the finger puppets!

"Hi five!" shouted Ridzuan and Jiaxuan.

Besides playing with finger puppets, they also used family stick puppets to learn about the different heights of family members, from the tallest to the shortest.

Chek Ee was arranging the family members according to their height.

Varinda was putting the "sister" puppet at the correct place.

During free-choice play, Xin Yi, Bevin and Hong Ze decided to play with the stick puppets.

They began to do a role play together!

Yoke Xuen joined in not long after.

Isn't it fun to see these children actively engaged in these activities? Stay tune for more in our next month's entry! :)
